Why, hello y'all!

I'm just gonna get right to it!  I should be sleeping right now, but I am not.  I'm too flippin excited because I'm starting a blog about one of my favorite subjects.

Food.

But its not just food.  It's the culture that surrounds it.  How do we eat?  How do people in other places eat?  The people next door?  What are their customs.  And why?

I think my fascination stems from my family.  Like many families in the world, my family showed their love with food.  I remember many Sundays as a small child, walking into my grandmothers house after church and being caressed by the smells from her kitchen.  Fried chicken, collard greens seasoned with hamhocks, macaroni and cheese (baked of course!),  cornbread!! HMMM!  Just the thought of it brings such a smile to my heart.  All afternoon into the evening the door to her small house was constantly opening and shutting; so many people were coming in and out for a taste of Josephine's food.  Family, friends... it didn't matter!  Everyone left with a full belly.

She spent hours in that kitchen cooking for us because she loved us.  I loved her too.  I'm pretty sure my love for food stemmed from her.

Yeah, Granny was awesome. :)
